A moment to gloat

Forgive me. I’m about to be that friend. You know… the one who doesn’t speak to you for months at a time and then all of a sudden gives you a call, text or email just to say how awesome they are. Well. Consider this post that friend. It was prompted by this:

holy moly, 599 for those?I’m sorry, do you see that price? $599 for the pair and that’s a DEAL? Oh no, no, no. Let me show you a deal…

now this is a dealThat, my friends, was $5. “In yo’ FACE super expensive ‘DEAL’ thing!” Forgive me. I’ll regain my composure… that is, after showing off a few other true deals we’ve run across in Indy. I mean, our house and everything in it fall in that category, but here are some of our more recent finds.

Yes, it’s been painted silver… no, not by me. But for a price tag under $15 this girl wasn’t going to argue. Lovely 8 Day Mid Century sunburst clock. I don’t know much about it, but I do know I like it. I am in the market for a clock key for it though… so you know, if you know of one…

The husband found this for me, again, a steal. I was giddy. Functional, hearty, AND it looks good. Now that’s my kind of collectable.

Found this at the Goodwill Outlet for pennies. I’m planning on hanging those adorable Hippos somewhere in my house. Most of the game pieces are there too, but I’m not sure if it works… it seems like the precursor to Hungry Hungry Hippo and Operation.

Another Goodwill Outlet find. The wood is old, but I don’t know much yet about the mirror itself, it seems very Regency Style, clearly porthole mirror – but other than that, beats me.

I have a thing for books. Especially old books… and even more especially, old kids books. I love them, I love their color, their quirk, their illustrations and yes, even their stories. These two were also plucked from a Goodwill Outlet bin.

Generally one to complain about my book habit… he was easily appeased with a nostalgic sniff from an old Jr. High library book find.

Okay, I’m done gloating. ;o) Thanks for putting up with me.
