Every year our friend-family put on a delightful celebration of friends, food and fellowship. We say it’s about the friendship, but let’s be honest here… it’s about the food. We don’t pull out the stops quite like this on every friend gathering. As one guest put it, “it’s like the pre-cursor to Thanksgiving.” We did add one different element this year. Rather than requesting funds to assist in the provisions, we asked guests to bring a donation for the Indianapolis Humane Society, they absolutely delivered. Between all 35+ guests we were able to give the Humane Society an array of donations from milk bones to a large dog crate (which they were ecstatic over), to several hundred dollars. Josh and I give this as our nod to Brontë.
Generally the party is held outdoors (now on our larger, much improved patio), but we still like to make sure the inside is hospitable, especially as it can get quite chilly in the evenings outdoors.
Steven, our talented friend, actually slapped the main meat on the Egg Friday night, but here he is warming up the additional meat. It was a pig-heavy kinda meat-meal.
The following are just a series of photos for the evening. I’d like to think it’s pretty self-explanatory. On the whole, it’s the visual to what Josh and I have always wanted to bring to this eclectic home of ours – love, friendship, warmth and joy…oh, and damn good food & drinks too.
And last, but not least… the illustration of friendship… even after setting up, a huge meal, lots of people, the friend-family still teams up and cleans up the kitchen. Yep. Couldn’t dream of better.
