Well, as with every room in this house. . .it’s not quite done yet, but you can see the vision now.
Our breakfast nook is so much more nook-ish. We do find ourselves sipping on coffee, staring out the windows and using this as more than just storage and dog watering hole. The curtains made a surprising difference.
I mean, if I weren’t a believer in curtains before, I am now. Those were Goodwill finds, as are the toppers that will be crafted above them in the near future. The cardboard on the wall, yes, that’s intentional. We’re working on making this a gallery room of friends’ works. We have numerous artist friends and would love to showcase the wonderful things we’ve acquired, bought and created. Not to mention some of my grandmother’s art and an occasional creation of my own.
I took some time to sift through her figure sketches from her years in college for art and then looked at some of my own. Time has certainly changed the models. She was trained with men and women in bathing suits. I was trained with men and women in birthday suits.
Back to the nook, we’ll be slowly framing our collection in white frames with white mats and displaying them in the places currently held by the cardboard collection. That’s the plan, at least.
So, for the time being, here is our breakfast nook – the before, during, and current:
There you have it. The nook is officially nice.
