In the off chance an old house peep in my midwest area has an unwanted (yet functional) radiator they’d be willing to sell and it’s right around 46” long...I’d like to just make it clear I’d be a very willing buyer. . The ol’ radiator in the basement hasn’t worked since we’ve owned the place. It dawns on us (a decade later) that maybe it would help our kitchen pipes if we had heat in their area in the basement below 🤷‍♀️ . In the meantime I’ll be stalking Facebook marketplace for a radiator 😂 . #oldhouserenovation #hotwaterboiler #castironradiator #oldhousewoes
Behind all these old house posts are a couple of happy loons doing life together. We’ve been married for 11 years and have survived home renovations together. You all know the challenges 😜 . Between house projects we spend our time outdoors, with friends, and in some cases whipping up an old school photo moon prop for a siblings wedding. . We’re still learning in all things & enjoying the ride. So hello 👋 to all these awesome old house peeps! . #52weeksofhome #52weeksofhomeweek6 #portraitofus #dinklife #papermoonphotobooth #diylife
An unexpected photo opportunity appeared this weekend. Apparently the sun was coming in just right and I happened to pop in at just the right tome. 🥰 gotta love it when that happens. . 1920s JLMott Ironworks Silentum toilet . @thetileshop white subway tile . #oldhouselife #prismlight #rainbowmoment #jlmott
No ornate, gloriously hand carved woodwork to highlight as our best feature. The house’s era was the roaring twenties, a house made for hosting. It’s not the modern open floor plan nonsense, it’s a circle. It’s made for entertaining & mingling or cozying up for a quiet wine and chat. The Parlor, the sunroom, the stage in the dining room are all ready for a good time. . The worst? Oh that’s easy. This afterthought of an entry to the basement. One day we’ll reconfigure & be rid of that awkward space. . #52weeksofhomeweek5 #52weeksofhome #myoldhouse #oldhouselovers
My love endures for these long, thick, hefty bygone home heating devices of long ago. The new boiler keeps the hot water flowing through these cast iron beauties and as long as you’re near one, you stay toasty. . #hotwaterheating #radiatorlove #oldbutnotobsolete #polarvortex2019 #staytoastymyfriends
Light switches...they’re probably our most interesting hardware in the house. The house was built in the 20s so it bypassed the era of lovely ornate hardware...but we do have these odd things. . Arrow brand, tiny crystals in the head, porcelain body. We had each switch cleaned, restored and the wires updated for our modern wiring because I couldn’t imagine the house without them. . . #52weeksofhome #52weeksofhomeweek4 #oldhousehardware #tinydetails #frencheclectic
I always love it when the first snowfall of the year is a hearty one! . #snowday #frencheclectic #1920shome
What better way to spend a Sunday than a luxurious mid-afternoon bath? For us, recalling two years ago when a pipe wrench was necessary for such luxuries, it's extra sweet.
If you're looking for a houseplant that survives the old house life, might we suggest the Z plant. Think of World War Z when you think of a Z plant... it will survive e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.
